OCA Camp Rules

These are the rules for any OCA sponsored camps:

All Campers are required to abide by the following rules during their time at camp.

  1. The Camp Schedule set by the Camp Board and Dean is to be followed by all campers. Campers should be prompt and punctual at all activities and Chapel. No one is excused from scheduled activities.
  2. Campers and Staff will be expected to conduct themselves in a Christian manner at all times.
  3. No one may leave the campgrounds without permission of the Dean.
  4. Cars are to be parked for the duration of camp. Do not sit in cars - they are intended to enter & exit the camp. If a Staff Member must leave the camp for any reason it must be with the Dean’s permission.
  5. OCA Campgrounds are large, therefore campers must:
    1. Observe boundaries placed by the Dean. Generally, stay within sight of the dining hall. Outdoor activities may allow further distance such as hiking, outdoor games, bonfires, etc. but will always be by permission of the Dean and accompanied by Staff Members.
    2. Respect the privacy of the boys and girls cabins. The cabins and immediate area around the cabins are out of bounds to the opposite sex.
    3. Respect the campgrounds and buildings. Pick up your garbage, leave trails clear of papers, swimming noodles, pop cans, water bottles, etc. There is to be no graffiti or writing on any walls, doors, ceilings inside or outside of any buildings.
    4. Intentional damage or damage due to unnecessary carelessness will result in the camper being charged for the damages.
    5. Do not swim in the pond. Do not throw anyone into the pond.
  6. No firearms, knives, or fireworks are permitted by campers on the campgrounds.
  7. No illegal drugs, alcohol or tobacco are to be used on the camp property.
  8. Sickness and accidents must be reported to Staff immediately. Prescription drugs are to be turned in to the Staff and dispensed through the First Aid Station by a designated Staff Member.
  9. Telephone Calls – The Camp phone number is: 1-519-925-5901 In the event of an emergency, campers will be allowed (with a staff member present) to use the camp phone to call home. Parents may call and leave a message with a Staff Member and we will have the camper return the call at a convenient time.
  10. Cell Phones & Electronics – CD players, ipods, electronic games, cell phones are not needed or permitted at camp. The dean has the privilege of confiscating such items. If you wish to take pictures, you may bring a digital camera.
  11. Clothing: All clothing worn at camp should be modest and appropriate.
    1. Campers wearing inappropriate clothing will be asked to change at the Dean’s discretion. Modest swimwear is required.
    2. T- shirts with offensive logos or wording are not permitted.
    3. Closed toed shoes, running shoes are required for outdoor activities such as hiking and some games. Sandals may be worn when closed toed shoes are not required.
  12. Cabins:
    1. During scheduled camp activities no camper is allowed to remain in his/her cabin. Permission from Staff is required to go and get a forgotten item (Bible, towel, etc.).
    2. Meals and snacks at camp are plentiful - there is no food allowed in the cabins. It can attract ants/bugs and animals.
    3. Do not push beds together. Ample room between beds is required to allow exit in case of emergency or fire.
    4. No water fights in the cabins.
    5. Cabin devotion time is to be respected by others. Cabin Leaders may have cabin time that runs a bit longer than others - Do not interrupt a cabin during their cabin time.
    6. Curfew and lights out as set by the camp schedule (and discretion of the Dean) must be followed.
  13. Meals:
    1. Everyone is required to attend meals
    2. Remember your manners, be polite and courteous. Wait your turn in line without pushing or shoving others. Be sure everyone has passed through the line before going for seconds.
    3. After your meal, place your garbage in the trash and scrape your plates in the waste.

  14. A refund of any unused portion of your tuition, less registration fee, will be given in the event a camper has to leave the camp because of injury or emergency, which, in the opinion of the Dean is beyond the camper’s or parent’s control. No refund will be given when the camper leaves the camp because of homesickness, discipline, family vacations, etc. No discount will be given for those arriving late.
  15. If you do not understand a rule or need clarification in any way, please discuss with your Cabin Leader. If you still have questions the Dean will welcome your inquiry.
